Sarah Smith, MPH, is a Research Program Manager at the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) at the University of California, San Diego. She supports several projects within Dr. Rebecka Lundgren’s research portfolio which are based in West, Central and East Africa. Sarah’s educational and professional experience has centered around both domestic and global health research, with areas of interest being social and structural determinants of violence and reproductive health, and the prevention and management of chronic disease among women, adolescents and children. Sarah holds an MPH in Global Health and a BA in Medical Anthropology, both from the University of Washington. Before joining GEH, Sarah worked in Dakar, Senegal for more than four years where she was involved in various research initiatives focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Her duties included project management, data collection and analysis, and training research staff. Sarah is passionate about the development and scaling of interventions focused on shifting gendered social norms and increasing access to quality reproductive and maternal care.
